    ​"Customs" and "specifications" confirm coordination to ensure the quality of goods in the domestic market​

    Two officials in the General Authority for Standardization, Metrology and Quality, and the General Authority of Customs on the keenness of the two bodies to develop and develop local trade, and support the national product, and ensure the safety of the product entering the local market, and that coordination is underway between the two bodies and the process of linking them in the process of implementation in the next few months​.

    ​This came during a workshop on introducing the Saber system, which was held in the Eastern Chamber on Monday (11/11/2019) attended by Deputy Director of Product Tracking (Saber) at the Saudi Organization for Standardization, Metrology and Quality / Basil bin Hussein Al-Zahrani, Representative of the General Authority of Customs Faisal Al-Otaibi, and Deputy Chairman of the Chamber Badr bin Sulaiman Al-Rizeiza, and the dialogue was moderated by the Chairman of the Commercial Committee Hani bin Hassan Al-Afaliq,

    Al-Zahrani said that the system of Saber of the Saudi Organization for Standardization, Metrology, and Quality is "an integrated electronic service that allows traders of consumer goods to register their facilities in the system, and the data of their products, whether imported or manufactured locally, in order to obtain the required conformity certificates and certificates of conformity of consignments across the platform for products in the Saudi market ", explaining that the goal is:" Improving the import experience and obtaining certificates of conformity and consignments required in the Kingdom, and raise the proportion of products conforming in, and thus protect the consumer, and benefit from both the merchant and Ge, relevant government authorities. 

    Al-Zahrani pointed out that there are additional advantages granted by the registration process on the system (Saber) by distinguishing the system for products and requirements, and the possibility of creating a consolidated invoice for all applications, and access to the data of conformity assessment bodies and methods of communication with them, as well as fetching the data of the establishment and verification of the commercial register automatically​.​

    Al-Zahrani said that Saber laboratories are the laboratories accredited by the Authority and are directed to register new samples, and used products are not registered in the system, and allowed to enter the market only if objected by the Customs Authority, and that industrial products with industrial exemption are getting clearance Immediately and not required to register in the Saber system, stressing that the fees are imposed on each commodity on its own, and if the goods are of one model, they are placed in one invoice and collect fees for one commodity, and in the case of multiple in the model or in the source of production, fees are levied on each commodity, and any Difference in terms of the goods are treated With it as a new product, it imposes certification fees and registration fees​.

    ​​For his part, Faisal Al-Otaibi said that customs do not withdraw any authorized samples from the Saber platform, but they are immediately cleared except in case of doubt that they conform to the certificate, or being a personal or non-personal commodity. However, we welcome all investors' observations and seek to address them.​

    He added that the customs rely on certificates (Saber) only, and any product without a certificate is referred back to the General Authority for Standards, Metrology, ​​and Quality, and nothing is coming from abroad directly​.
